After thinking about it, talking about it, even teaching about it (!!!) for over a year, this blog is about to come to life again.
I’ve been travelling now for almost a year and a half, written articles, recorded podcasts, spoken at photography shows and events, and all this time people have followed me on social media but there’s not a trace of it on here. Not good!
I’ve used the rollercoaster of my life as an BIG excuse not to write – of course I don’t have time, of course I have no idea what to write about (I mean, seriously!), of course it takes commitment and “if I start I have to keep it going”, so of course I’m never starting – but it’s been constantly on my mind for months and there’s a time when all flowers bloom and light is good and the adventure just goes on and on and… sod it, this needs to happen. Now.
And I don’t have to recap everything that’s happened so far! We don’t start things because we feel we’re always behind, but we can always start where we are, can’t we?
Right now, I’ve been away from home for exactly three months.
I left on January 10th – after being back less than 2 weeks – not knowing when I might be back.
I travelled across the UK a few times, to Italy twice, and to the US.
If you missed it, that’s ok. We start again now :)
During the whole of last year, I was home for a total of EIGHT weeks.
A lot of people shake their heads at this point, thinking I must be mad, or wondering how the heck did I do it. A mix of dread and slight envy seeps through, I see it every time.
How could you do that!! I could never.
That’s the first thought.
And then it comes.
I wish. I wish I could do that too. (And you know what... you can. But that’s for another blog.)
But now the most expensive flat in the universe – for days lived in – is about to be given up. Yes, after almost exactly ten years, I’m moving from Austria to the UK.
I made the decision less than a month ago and I’m planning to move next month (things happen quick in the Costa household!).
After starting my new company in the UK just a month ago, this is my very own, massive, physical anti-Brexit countermove. Haha :)
And yes, it’s a massive headache, I’m just about wrapping my head around it. Looking for movers!
Looking for homes!
I still don’t have a place to move into, but I’m flying back next Tuesday and I’ll be dismantling the flat over the next four weeks.
Call it what you will.
To me, it’s another ADVENTURE.
Because this is what it’s all about, right? Life is an adventure, we might as well make the most of it and have fun with it. Easy? Nope. Exciting? Through the roof yes!
This past 16 months have thought me how to be superflexible, how to work anywhere, how to make the most of my time (and my internet connection!), how to sift through stuff and only focus on what matters most, and how to actually enjoy the whole process without getting stressed out about it. Amazing stuff, don’t you think! Superpowers, and things I’m starting to teach in my courses, because if it works for me it can work for anyone, right? I wish they’d teach this stuff in schools!
So, I’m taking you on my adventure now.
I’ll be sharing all of my articles and podcasts here, so they’re all in on a place, and I’ll also be writing about this move, the new work I’m planning, the challenges, the ideas, the new projects and the stuff that really matters to me.
And if you’re on an adventure of your own, connect with me by commenting here or on social media, and let’s see if we can inspire each other.
I’d love to hear your stories, and maybe exchange tips too!
